Need help with melting temperature of Fumed Silica

We've received a question on the melting temperature of Fumed Silica. Also is it possible to use it for anapplication where temperature increases to 400°C for many cycles?

Can anyone help or shed light - can pass on full contact details.

I found this page http://www.norchem.com/pdf/msds-silica-fume.pdf that indicates that the melting temperature for silica fume is 1200-1300°C.

As for the thermal cycling, that would depend on the application.

You could try contacting Dr. Philip Walls who may be able to assist you. His details can be found at http://social.azom.com/profile/DrPhilipWalls.

Hope this helps
